A2 Weekly News Update 3

My story this week comes from the Daily Telegraph and continues on from the recent robbery that involved Kim Kardashian in Paris. The star was robbed of 8 million pounds in jewellery as she was allegedly tied up in her hotel room.

News quickly spread around the world of the terrifying ordeal, but not everyone saw this robbery as a negative event, because an online fancy dress retailer has put online a listing for the 'Parisian heist robbery victim' costume on 'Costumeish' which features a bound and gagged Kardashian lookalike. Referencing the robbery, the costume included a “fake gag”, a “white short sexy robe”, two inches of rope, a wig, sunglasses and ring. The costume was being sold for $69.99 (£56.85).

In my opinion, I think this story is extremely bad because although an individual such as Kim Kardashian is easy to mock and make light out of, however aside from the fact she was robbed because of the worth of the jewellery she owns, this is a mother and wife who was tied up on her and assaulted which is a terrifying thing to happen to anyone. So the fact this costume has come out is quite disgusting that the world can mock an issue like this, when in robberys around the world people can be, and are frequently murdered.

  1. I agree that this is disgusting. They are mocking an extremely serious incident which if it were to happen to someone who was not famous, would cause massive controversy and no one would even consider laughing at. It is a negative representation of class and status.

  2. I think you included your opinion well, and I quite agree with what you are saying. Could you include a more informative article to compare detailing the incidents of the robbery to contrast the different standpoint different articles took?
